The intensive care unit is running 24 hours a day all year round. The unit is always ready to treat patients with acute illnesses or injuries.

The adult intensive care unit of TYKS is responsible for the demanding intensive care required in the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, as well as being the national centre for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. As the only 24-hour centre of its kind in Finland, they provide both a single pressure chamber and a large one for multiple patients.
