Nursing

The nurses are performing team work together with physicians and are participating in the planning of patient based treatment. An important part of nurse’s work is to perform the local treatments planned to the patient and to instruct the patient on the treatment. In addition, sample taking as well as assisting the doctors in the procedures belong to the nurses’s tasks. The goal is a satisfied patient who knows enough about his/her disease, participates in the planning of his/her own treatment and manages his/her treatment at home.

To the student of nursing

We give clinical training to the students of nursing. As a student you will get a tutor of your own, with whom you can plan a study period serving your aims. Also the other persons belonging to the nursing staff are obliged to instruct you. As a student, however, you have the main responsibility of learning. If you wish to prepare yourself to the learning period beforehand, get preliminarily acquainted with the dermatological literature. Remember that the nursing performed must be evidence based nursing.

The clinic teacher will at first show to the new students the dressing rooms. In the outpatient department you will get a locker for your disposal if needed. Be careful with the keys! They must be left on the last day of learning period in the places agreed on.

If you wish you can have lunch in the cafeteria/dining room of T-hospital, 1st floor. You will get your lunch at the students’ price. Be ready to present your student card.

Our golden rules

Remember the aseptic way of working
Be initiative, but deliberative
Ask when you do not know
Search information
Lunch and coffee breaks have to be agreed on with your tutor
Follow the working time agreed on. Inform about your absence in time
Keep the pledge of secrecy

More information (in Finnish) about the outpatient department is available in the home pages of VSSHP.
