The aim of the treatment is to alleviate the patient's symptoms, maintain functional capacity, and support managing at home. Decreasing functional capacity on the part of the patient is prevented by rehabilitative and geriatric treatment. The care of patients is multi-professional, and co-operation is undertaken between family members and with home care. Patients come to the ward mainly from TYKS Acute or from other Turku University Hospital wards. Patients also come by referral to the ward from home and from 24-hour care units. However, we hope that relatives take the patient’s extra money and valuables home. The hospital and personnel are not responsible for lost valuables. Smoking is allowed only in the designated area. Possession of a lighter is prohibited in hospital premises. It is forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages or other intoxicants to the hospital. We hope that the relatives agree on one contact person who can then inform other relatives about the patient’s matters. You can reach the nurse round the clock by calling the ward's phone number. It is advisable to agree on the contact times in advance so that the doctor can brief him/herself with the patient's circumstances before calling.
